Logger, 69Raymond Nelson, 69, of Warrenton, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in Seaside.
Mr. Nelson was born July 31, 1935, to Lewis and Glenn Bell Orndoff Nelson in Jewell. He attended schools in Warrenton and Seaside.
In 1979, he married Judith Camberg, who survives, living in Warrenton.
After working in Alaska for 10 years, he then worked in New Mexico for four years. He spent most of his life in Washington and Oregon as a logger, many of those years as a timber faller and a yard operator. He worked for Van Fleet Logging and Crown Zellerbach and had his own company in Alaska. Recently he was employed with Wirkkala Logging of Naselle, Wash.
He enjoyed hunting deer and elk, fishing and clamming.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kellie Stinnett of Seaside, Rayma Ann Nelson of Eugene and Tamara Nelson of Eugene; four sons, Bradley Nelson of Eugene, Clint Walker Nelson of Vancouver, Wash., Herb Camberg of Elsie and Rodney Camberg of Seaside; two brothers, Vernon Nelson of Warrenton and Merle Nelson of Portland; a sister, Ruby Lowe of Seaside; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hughes-Ransom Cremation & Mortuaries in Seaside.
A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hughes-Ransom Chapel in Seaside.
Committal will follow at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mist Cemetery in Mist.
