Cleo Pesonen
Seaside resident, 96Cleo Pesonen, 96, of Seaside, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 in Seaside.
Mrs. Pesonen was born Jan. 27, 1907 in Turner to Walter and Della Blaco.
On Sept. 13, 1926 she married Paul Pesonen in Astoria. He died in 1978.
The Pesonens made their home in Astoria until moving to Seaside in 1964. In recent years, Mrs. Pesonen lived at the home of Nancy Hoge, where she enjoyed the flower garden and visits from friends and family.
Mrs. Pesonen spent her life as a homemaker. She was involved in the Home Extension Program and the Parents and Teachers Association. She loved to garden and was an excellent cook, known especially for her skills as a pie baker, family members said. She loved caring for her three grandchildren while their mother worked.
Mrs. Pesonen is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Judy Pesonen of Gearhart; three grandchildren and their spouses, Janine and Skip Jensen of Las Vegas, Nev., Julie and Richard Walz of Boise, Idaho, and John and Michele Pesonen of Las Vegas; three great-grandchildren, Jessica and Tyler Pesonen and Madison Jensen, all of Las Vegas; a niece, Dorrie Scherer; and other nieces and nephews. A brother, Marcel, died earlier.
A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Seaside. Private interment will be in Ocean View Cemetery.
