Rose Marie Sturgeon

Former area resident, 65Rose Marie Sturgeon, 65, of Salem, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, in Warrenton.

Mrs. Sturgeon was born Nov. 3, 1937, in Lawrence, Kan., to Samuel L. and Mildred E. Crooker Morris.

In 1976, she married Jack Sturgeon in Seaside. He survives, residing in Salem.

Mrs. Sturgeon was raised in Lawrence until her family moved to Gardnier in 1948. She lived in Warrenton from 1966 to 1976 and drove a school bus. In 1977, she moved to Salem and worked for the Salem Keizer School District for 20 years. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Charlie Norris of Warrenton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott and Vicki Earls of Warrenton and Bill Earls Jr. of Eureka, Calif.; four step-children and a spouse, Ron Sturgeon of Seaside, Kent and Becky Sturgeon of Banks, Jana Sturgeon and Guy Sturgeon, both of Portland; 12 grandchildren, Derek Konidakis of Tualatin, Darren Konidakis of Beaverton, Michael Konidakis of Ashland, Matt Norris, Shawn Earls and Christopher Earls, all of Warrenton, Adrienne Earls of Detroit, Hunter Hartwell and Billy Earls, both of Eureka, Kyle Myers and Eric Sturgeon, both of Portland, and Tara Sturgeon of Bend; a great-grandson, Marco Merlini of Detroit; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Mel Bartz of Brownsberg, Ind., a brother and sister-in-law, Samuel L. and Laverne Morris of Woodburn; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Betty Morris of Minnesota, and Ted and Melody Sturgeon of Seaside; her mother-in-law, Mildred Mulder of Seaside; and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, James R. Morris, and a grandson, Scottie Earls, died earlier.

Private service is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
