Daniel Ray “D.J.” Johnson, 60, of Cornelius, formerly of Astoria, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in Hillsboro.

He was born Dec. 1, 1951, in Astoria, to Earl O. and Ethel “Sody” (Soderwall) Johnson. His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Johnson had Down syndrome. He was an assembler at the Edwards Center in Aloha, retiring in 2011.

Family members said he enjoyed collecting things to decorate his room. He also enjoyed his group home, and was very well liked there.

He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Lyle D. and Pamela G. Johnson of Astoria; a nephew, Ted D. Johnson; a niece, Wendy A. Schubert; and four great-nieces and great-nephews, Brice, Page, Grace and Ivy Nyburg.

A private memorial will be held.
