Philip M. Winters, 85, of Ocean Park, Wash., died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at home.

He was born July 27, 1925, in Galena, Kan. The family moved to the Northwest when he was a child.  

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

Mr. Winters was a 21-year resident of the Long Beach (Wash.) Peninsula. He was self-employed as a hearing aid dealer on the Peninsula until his death.

An avid bowler, he also was well known on the local golf courses where he enjoyed many friendships.

Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Betty Winters of Ocean Park, Wash.

A memorial service and reception will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea, 1515 S. Pacific Ave. in Long Beach.
