June 17, 1957 — Aug. 5, 2016
Pixie Merrell passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, from a sudden, massive heart attack.
She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to AJ and Rosella (Janike) Schmitt. Pixie grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, graduating from Addison Vocational High School.
In 1985, she moved west with her young children to live at the beach. For many years she was a staple in the Seaside, Oregon, community, where she lived, worked and raised a family. She was a lifelong Moose member, and her family, near and far, were always her first love in life.
Later in life she returned to school, and graduated from Clatsop Community College. It was one of the proudest moments in her life. She spent her entire life trying to make each day brighter than the last for each and every person she ever encountered. She always made a difference.
Pixie is survived by her beloved canine companion, Digger; daughters LeAnne Albertson, Jolene (Andy) Oman and Dawna (Gary) Reynolds; sons Mark Burke, Donald (Becca Lloyd) Merrell and Jonathon Merrell; grandchildren AJ, Katie, Austin, Jorga, Emily, Levi and Reef; her sister Nancy VanBeek; brother Francis (Julie) Schmitt; and the countless souls she’s touched over her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents, AJ and Rosella; and her infant son, Dale.
A celebration of life bonfire is scheduled for Aug. 26, 2016, on the Gearhart 10th Avenue beach access at 3 p.m.
For any donations, or for questions in regard to the celebration, please contact her daughter, Jolene Oman at 503-791-4149.
