Roger Allan Pietila

Roger Pietila

Aug. 31, 1960 – July 17, 2014

Roger Allan Pietila took his first breath in Astoria, Oregon, on August 31, 1960, and his final breath in Bend, Oregon, on July 17, 2014.

He attended Astoria High School and studied mechanics at Clatsop Community College. His love of cars and motorcycles led him to his career as parts manager at Birdwell Motors, Miller Ford, and eventually Astoria Ford. His pride and dedication to his work showed through with his knowledge of Ford parts numbers and being able to recite them by heart.

Roger enjoyed being outdoors riding his motorcycles, fishing, or just spending time with family and friends barbecuing. He had an extreme passion for vehicles and motorcycles, always finding something to tinker with in his garage.

Roger is survived by his mother, Maxine Pietila, and brother Kenneth Pietila of Astoria, Oregon, his daughter, Laura Pietila, and grandchildren Shaun, Aayden, and Kaely of Madras, Oregon, as well as several cousins and friends across Oregon. He was preceded in death by his father, Lauri Pietila.

A celebration of life was held at Redmond Memorial Chapel in Redmond, Oregon. A graveside service is at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon, on August 15, 2014, at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to Partners in Care Hospice House in Bend, Oregon, or the charity of your choice.
