Ronald R. Hubbard passed away peacefully in his home at Clatsop Retirement Village on Aug. 8, 2016. He was born in Astoria on Dec. 20, 1927.
Ron enlisted in the Navy at age 17, serving on the USS Bayfield touring China, Hawaii and Japan. When he returned home, he married his high school sweetheart, Janet Gerritz. He then attended school for his career in marine construction, then worked in Alaska, Washington state, Oregon and California. He took an early retirement to enjoy life and travel with his wife and many friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his daughter Ronda Severini (Rocky) of San Diego; son David Hubbard (Lori) of Astoria; grandchildren Kimberly Kueker (Chris) and Tami Riser, both of San Diego, and Andrea Larsen (Michael) of Astoria; and great-grandchildren Karina, Ryan and Bryce Kueker and Breanna Long, all of San Diego. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Hubbard; and two grandsons, Erik Hubbard and Troy Riser.
Ron and his family were very thankful for all the Clatsop Retirement Village family and friends for their special care and support.
A celebration of life will be held at the Clatsop Retirement Village, Thursday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m. on the second floor.
