A newspaper is only as good as its readers. The Daily Astorian is fortunate to have an abundance of readers who are not shy about sharing their own insights and opinions. And frequently those insights run deep.

To capture an element of our diverse readership, we are creating a Board of Contributors. The work of these 10 people, whose names were published in Wednesday’s edition, will appear monthly on our Friday editorial page in the Editor’s Notebook position. Sue Skinner of Astoria will be our first contributor. Her piece will appear on Sept. 27. Jeff Jacques will follow Oct. 25.

This is the third time we have created a Board of Contributors. Our prior experience taught us a few lessons, which we’ve incorporated in this iteration. As with our prior boards, two contributors will be high school students, from Seaside and Astoria.

These writers will enrich our editorial page. As their work begins to appear, tell us what you think.
