Here we go again – pushing the Astoria school-based health center. If you think this is a good idea, then you should listen to all people who are pushing this idea.

I have heard three different health professionals who told exactly what they want to happen. One was scary because the teachers evaluate your children. They can decide whether your child needs mental health care – say he is not socializing with other children as he should, etc. Shy is not good, apparently.

Another suggested he would like someone to explain the sex images children might run across accidentally on the Internet. I say no. This is the parents’ job.

The very fact that they want to get your 3- and 4-year-olds in school is bad. They should be home with parents and grandparents – or a known babysitter, if parents must work. Stop trying to do the parents’ job.

I do not trust the medication of school kids by anyone but the family doctor. Stick to what we pay you to do.
