With winter approaching, most of us, particularly senior citizens, are getting our flu shots.

But, with the days getting shorter and the nights longer, there is even a greater tendency for boredom, depression and a feeling of hopelessness to cause many of us more discomfort than the flu.

So how can we cope? By giving ourselves a shot of hope. We can create hope when things seem hopeless - by sending something on ahead. We force ourselves to plan trips, to set new goals, to start new projects, to write letters and to reaffirm our faith.

As we put something in our future that gives us something to look forward to, something that will offer hope' boredom, depression and hopelessness disappear.
