At the Warrenton City Commission meeting Jan. 5, a city commissioner requested to change the city's monthly council meeting dates and time.
This commissioner wants the two monthly meeting dates changed, since he prefers to do something else on those nights. This commissioner feels that Warrenton should change what it has done for more than 10 years, due to his personal schedule and desires. What does he want to do instead? Attend church on Wednesday and be able to watch Monday Night Football? Since this commissioner's nightly agenda appears to be so full, and his personal wants seem to overshadow his elected responsibilities, maybe a resignation from the city commission will free up his time enough to do these things.
When we relate this commissioner's self-centered request to the recent issue of open burning in residential neighborhoods, he verbally attacked us, stating that he didn't want to change the city's burn ordinance for "one person."
