Clatsop Community College came up about $900,000 short on its budget this year, which meant layoffs for instructors and the end of some programs, including criminal justice.

I see that the proposed jail expansion will cost about $14 million. That jail will be used to house folks too ignorant to have done something constructive with their lives.

Isn’t it sad and ironic that some of the people who would have become police officers may end up in the expanded jail a few years from now, because there were no classes available for them to learn how to make a decent, honest living? That’s looking ahead, isn’t it?
