On Dec. 7, Gray School Community Partners (GSCP) originated with its first annual committee meeting to address the underserved student population at Gray School Campus. One task on the agenda was for the students to submit an anonymous and gender specific needs list. The lists were placed into a holiday box which was then opened by community members in order to shop for specific items. These items ranged from toddler toys to clothes for the students.

GSCP raised $1,613 in charitable donations for its students this holiday. Thank you to the Astoria Christian Church’s participating members and Pastor Frank Lloyd, the Sunset Empire Transportation District, John Jacob Astor Elementary School teachers Connie Brewington, Laura Biederman, Kelly Gallagher and Christina Grauff and community members David and Danene Lethin, Ralph Steinback, Lauren Guido and Debi Donnelly.

I would like to send my gratitude and utmost appreciation for the efforts of all involved. What you do speaks in volumes for our community and its future. Anyone else wanting to make a difference in the lives of our youth may reach me at (503) 325-4197 or bguido@astoria.k12.or.us
