Some of us groan, gasp or gnash our teeth when we spy a letter in The Daily A from E. Robert Nassikas. It occurred to me that in an odd way, Mr. Nassikas is good for his reading public.

1. His letters assure us that, indeed, freedom of the press is alive and well here on the North Coast. Hooray!

2. A Nassikas letter encourages lots of healthy, vigorous discourse and political debate.

3. Lastly, a Nassikas letter is a reminder, lest we forget, that both evil and good exist here on the planet and in our community.
