OK, so what's with the Census Bureau? They spend millions of dollars on TV advertising, but are unwilling to spend $80 to rent a room for training some volunteers? They wanted to use the Masonic Lodge hall, which we rent out on special occasions, but they didn't want to rent it.

Now three weeks after I've filled out and returned my census form, I receive a duplicate form in the mail. True, the letter that arrives with the form says that I don't need to respond a second time if I've already returned the first form.

But how come they sent the second form, anyway? They had too much money in their printing and postage budget or something? It seems like this is another typical government waste of time and money project. All of the information that they ask for, they could obtain from the Social Security Administration and the post office.
