Congratulations, Astorian. Once more, you have dodged the bullet. The April 22 editorial about the school cutbacks (“School cutbacks are part of PERS problem,” The Daily Astorian, April 22) which are “part of the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) problem” suggested “widescale intervention by citizens,” including even sending “bus picketers to Salem,” without once even hinting that maybe excessive PERS retirement pensions are the source of the problem that needs to be addressed.
