It's time for some fresh thinking on the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners. Jeff Hazen's representation of District 1 has been a boring performance of following obediently the opinions of other commissioners, without asking tough questions or offering creative ideas about our economic future.

The challenger seeking change is Scott Lee, who has experience as a small business owner, the life blood of livable communities. With deep roots in the Northwest, he also has experience in the fishing and marine industries, along with family farming.

I think the present disgraceful unraveling of the terrible deal that the Port of Astoria made when they placed too much trust in a large and powerful corporate entity has proven that we are better off with manageable sized, home-grown business interests.

Hazen has always sided with the big outsiders in his votes. Let's give Scott Lee a chance at looking out for our local interests.
