I was disappointed and disheartened at the way The Daily Astorian persecuted Carol Snell in previous papers, and alas, today once again the Northern Oregon Housing Authority takes the headline ("NOHA exec readies to jump ship!" Oct. 2).

I have worked with Snell in the business capacity for more than eight years. She is thorough, compassionate, professional and resilient beyond words. The articles strike me as very personal as she is seemingly targeted as a person, and not as one of the many running the NOHA organization.

I wonder why the headlines don't read: "Financial education in Clatsop County falling short: 1,077 households in need of aid." That seems to be the true front-page story.

Why are so many people unable to support themselves? We haven't always been in an economic crisis, yet NOHA has always had a full list of those in need.
