I was driving across the bridge into Longview, Wash., the other day, and of course couldn’t miss seeing the ships being loaded with timber bound for all points in the Western Pacific.

It would be ironic if the dock that floated from Japan to Newport was built from timber that originated in the Northwest and, taking it a step further, a contractor from Vancouver, Wash., dismantles the dock.
