Even the most adamant proponent of liquified natural gas would have to admit that bringing this substance into or through Oregon is a difficult sell. Systematically, the people of the county have made it clear, both by public outcry and through the election process, that LNG is not wanted here.

The recent elections, where three out of three sitting county commissioners were replaced, should be testimony enough that the people of Clatsop County reject all efforts to site regasification plants on our rivers and waterways. They objected to being told that they have no voice in such matters and spoke most eloquently and forcefully through the ballot box.
