I'm asking all Wahkiakum County, Wash., registered voters to put aside party affiliations when you mark your ballot for county commissioner from the 3rd District.

We are very fortunate to have a candidate with Thomas Doumit's wide range of abilities. The voters from the 1st and 2nd districts will also benefit from having Doumit on the board of county commissioners.

As a lifetime resident of Wahkiakum County, I believe that now more than ever we are in need of a commission who will think things through and work hard to avoid any decisions that could have adverse effects on all of us.

I am a 58-year member of the Grays River (Wash.) Grange, and am on the state Grange Intersession Conservation and Ecology Committee. At our last meeting, I met Mary Hunt, Douglas County, Wash., commissioner. She commented that she hoped Doumit was going to run for re-election, and she stated that Doumit is a great asset to the County Commissioners Association. Please cast your ballot for Thomas Doumit. He cares about the future of our Wahkiakum County. Also, watch the mail for your ballots, which the auditor is sending out Oct. 19.
