Representatives of the city of Warrenton traveled to Washington, D.C., last week. We discussed three main topics: levee certification, floodplain mapping and the Hammond marina.

U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden personally greeted us in his office. We also had a face-to-face meeting with U.S. Rep. David Wu. We enjoyed lengthy discussions with both their staff as well as the staff of U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley and U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer. We appreciated the opportunity and the attention to our issues.

Wyden's field representative, Fritz Graham, assured us they would be convening a special meeting this week to discuss the flood protection issue further. Graham has been very helpful and accessible.

Stephen Marx from Wu's office, along with Marc Siegel from Merkley's staff, have been good to work with as well.

We are pleased with the contacts we established, and hopeful they will prove beneficial in assisting the city of Warrenton through the bureaucratic process.
