To the Editor:

Moving the Seaside schools to a safe location is a common-sense action. The new campus will provide an educational haven designed to remove safety hazards that now threaten our young people.

Gone will be the drills to try and out walk/run a tsunami. Present, obsolete and crumbling, structures will be replaced with up-to-date, energy-efficient construction. No longer will outdated heating, plumbing, lighting be a concern for the maintenance folks. Green energy buildings save money that in turn lowers the cost of running our schools.

The new campus will demonstrate to students that our communities value education and our willingness to provide a secure environment in which to learn. Pride in the school campus will be shared by all members of our community.

Land developers, real estate, the chambers of commerce and businesses will point to the focus of our communities and use it as a selling point. We know companies and families looking to relocate seek out communities that have the highest standards of educational practices and facilities.

South County will have a safe and progressive school campus that goes hand-in-hand with the quality of living found only at the coast. I encourage your support and vote.
