To the Editor:

On Nov. 5, voters will have the opportunity to support the building of a long-needed K-12 campus for the students of the Seaside School District.

The new schools will provide a safe location outside the tsunami zone and designs that will include increased security, energy efficiency and structural strength to help withstand the effects of earthquakes. In addition, the design will include many features that will enhance student learning by allowing for flexible spaces for innovative teaching practices and providing students access to modern technology.

As a retired teacher, I am grateful to have had the privilege of working with Seaside School District students and their families for 17 years. I applaud the dedication of our local educators in their efforts to provide the highest quality educational experience for every student, including my own two children. Their decisions and ours as voters must be to do what is best for children. We are so fortunate to live in communities that have supported education through tax dollars, fundraising efforts and by participating in volunteer programs in our schools. We can feel proud of Seaside School District in the past, and now I hope you will join me in voting yes for the future.
