We’re very happy to hear that Cindy Price is running for City Council in our neighborhood, Ward 3.

In the 14 years that we’ve known Cindy as a friend and neighbor, we’ve found her to be knowledgeable about local issues, experienced in a broad range of disciplines and able to see other points of view both intellectually and empathetically. She’s been that committed person who attends numerous council and commission meetings, speaks up from an informed perspective, listens, and is truly concerned about the short- and long-term health of our community.

Cindy is aware of the many conflicting interests that must be considered so that a community is vibrant. She will work hard to find a healthy balance between economic development and protecting our beautiful natural environment, and to ensure financially responsible oversight of the city budget while providing crucial services for struggling families in Astoria in order to improve our city’s long-term prospects.

It’s great to see a number of caring community members present themselves as candidates in both the City Council and mayoral races this year.

We think Cindy Price has everything it takes to be an effective and responsive representative of Ward 3, and we hope that others will take the time to listen to her, ask her questions, and support her candidacy.
