We, the facilitators for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance of Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington Coast, would like to express our appreciation to the youth of Clatsop County.

First is to Mary Altieri (known as Mary, the goat girl) who donated and then raffled off two goats to our cause. She raised a total of $475. In addition, she sells her goat milk soap at our shop, PennyWise Thrift Store in Warrenton, and donates $2 of every bar of soap sold to the DBSA. Thank you very much, Mary. Know that you are constantly in our thoughts.

Second is to the Warrenton High School Key Club, who, through the Arlene and Howard Schnitzer Foundation, awarded us a grant in the amount of $590 dollars. Credit goes to Ben Najera, who was responsible for advising us of the grant’s availability.

And, third, we would like to offer our sincere appreciation for the many donations we have received from members of the local communities both to the DBSA and to PennyWise Thrift Store

All of these donations and grants go towards helping to stamp out the stigma of mental illnesses. The more that we can get the information out to the communities that mental illness is a brain disease and you cannot “catch” it, the sooner we will be able to remove that stigma.
