Deborah Boone has represented the southern half of Clatsop County in the Oregon Legislature since August 2004, when she was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Elaine Hopson. Boone has turned in a respectable performance, and she gets high marks for constituent services.

Being a resident of Hamlet, Rep. Boone understands rural life, because she lives that experience. Because she had served as a Clatsop County commissioner and as a legislative aide, there were high expectations for Boone. She has a seat on the Emergency Board, and she has taken some heat from legislative Democrats for working across party lines.

On its own, Boone's performance merits a return trip to the statehouse. When sized up against her competition, Boone becomes the obvious choice,. Her Republican opponent, Norm Myers of Tillamook, has not made this a race. We endorse Deborah Boone's re-election.
