The Astoria High School varsity softball team and the Seaside boys track team both earned first place awards in the 2007 OSAA & Oregon Dairy Farmers Academic Awards, announced this week.

Astoria's Grade Point Average of 3.74 is tops in the state for all softball teams at the Class 4A level, while the Seaside boys track team topped all 4A boys' track teams with a 3.54 GPA.

Other top 10 marks included Seaside baseball (second, 3.46); Seaside boys golf (second, 3.61); Seaside girls track (third, 3.67); and Astoria girls track (eighth, 3.57).

Winter awards went to Astoria girls basketball (second, 3.70); Astoria wrestling (fifth, 3.16); Seaside boys swimming (sixth, 3.43); Seaside girls basketball (ninth, 3.59) and Seaside girls swimming (ninth, 3.60).
