GEARHART - Seaside's six-team girls invitational golf match was shortened to nine holes Monday, with the rain canceling the last half of the match at Gearhart Golf Links.

The team from Prairie High School in Vancouver, Wash., took the team title with a 180, three shots ahead of second-place Astoria (183), with Tillamook (184) a close third.

Seaside placed fourth with a 203, followed by Scappoose (217) and Molalla (incomplete).

Medalist honors went to Prairie's Tori Klettke, the Falcons' junior who finished 25th in last year's Washington 4A state championships as a sophomore.

Klettke fired a 39 Monday, two shots ahead of teammate Elena Erickson (41).

Astoria's Marlie Cokley was third with a 42, followed by a three-way tie for fourth between Astoria's Katie Cokley, Seaside's Alyson Fields and Tillamook's Jamie Niemi, all with a 43.

Other scorers for the Fishermen included Arielle Stevens (seventh, 46), Chelsea Reed-Harmel (52) and Yoorina Ko (70).

In addition to Fields, Seaside competitors were Mallory Osburn (49), Kathy Maltman (49), Angela West (62) and Kim Haney (64).

The Gulls and Fishermen meet again Thursday, in a league dual match at Astoria Golf & Country Club (2 p.m.).
