Astoria’s first dual track meet of the season took place Thursday at Astoria High School, where the Fishermen ran with the Tigers of Yamhill-Carlton.

“We did pretty good for our first dual meet,” said Astoria coach David Welsh. “We had a lot of PRs.

“Theresa Spenner in the hurdles and the open races had a good day, and Daria Van De Grift did a great job in the jumps.”

On the boys’ side, “all the guys did a great job, across the board,” Welsh said. “Brandon Winters ran great in the 200 (meters) and the four-by-four (relay), and Bryce Nurding won the 3,000.”

Complete results were not available.

Astoria will have athletes taking part in the Lower Columbia Invitational Saturday, then will take part in a dual meet at Tillamook next Thursday.
