Astoria Ford pitchers Matt Brause and Hans Lund combined for a perfect game in the opener, and the Fishermen of Astoria followed an 18-0 win with a 4-1 victory in Game 2 Tuesday night, in a nonleague Junior baseball doubleheader with the Fishermen of Ilwaco.
Brause threw just 23 pitches in three innings of work in Game 1, with Lund pitching the final two innings.
Astoria had to make just nine defensive plays in the five-inning win.
Ilwaco pitcher Anthony Wirkkala kept the nightcap close with a strong performance on the mound.
Astoria countered with Jordan Poyer, while Tom Jaworski pitched the seventh to secure the save. Jaworski had two hits at the plate, with Adam Koehnke adding a double.
Astoria (18-4 overall) finishes league play Thursday night with a single game at 7 at Seaside.
Seaside 12, Rainier 9RAINIER - Mark Thysell went 3-for-4 and scored three runs to help Seaside defeat Rainier 12-9 in Game 1 of a Junior State baseball doubleheader Tuesday at Rainier.
The Columbians came back to win the nonleague second game, 13-12.
In the opener, Seaside's Alec Carlson went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, in addition to pitching a complete game on the mound.
The Gulls scored three runs in the first inning and held a 12-3 lead after five innings.
Carlson blasted a two-run homer in the nightcap, which was called because of darkness after five innings.
