WILSONVILLE - Because of injuries and illness, the Astoria wrestling team had to forfeit six matches in a dual meet at Wilsonville Thursday night, leading to a 58-24 win for the Wildcats.

The Fishermen went 4-4 in other matches, with victories from Travis Osborn at 140 pounds, Nick Humphries (189) and Jeff Crowley (215). All three won by pin. Rich McCullough won by forfeit at 125 pounds.

Astoria won all three junior varsity matches by pin, with victories from John Johnson (189), T.J. Charron (215) and Nate Jump (275).

finish first and second in NewportNEWPORT - The Astoria swim teams made it a 1-2 finish Saturday in the Newport Invitational meet.

Astoria took first place on the boys' side, as the Fishermen scored 290 points to get past second-place Junction City (247) and third-place Marist (200). Seven other schools competed.

The Astoria girls took second with 176 points, behind girls team champion Taft (212).
