Astoria bounced back from Friday’s loss at Yamhill-Carlton with an easy 11-0 win over Tillamook Monday, in a Cowapa League baseball game at Aiken Field. It was Astoria’s first appearance on their home field in almost two weeks, and the Fishermen celebrated by pounding out 13 hits, including two apiece for Ryan Johnson, Conor Harber, Evan Cain and Frank Leonardi. Johnson had a two-run double in the sixth inning and Harber followed moments later with a two-run homer to end the game (10-run mercy rule). Harber picked up the complete game win on the mound, allowing just two hits with 15 strikeouts and two walks. Astoria (10-3) remains a half-game ahead of Scappoose (9-3), which defeated Yamhill-Carlton 5-4. The Fishermen will honor their seniors tonight in a single game vs. Seaside at Aiken Field.
