SEASIDE Banks scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning Thursday, on its way to a 7-3 win over Seaside in a Cowapa League baseball game at Broadway Field.
Seasides Kevin LaCoste and Joey Bonin of Banks were hooked up in a pitchers dual through much of the contest, with the Gulls holding a 2-1 lead after six innings.
The Braves scored twice in the top of the seventh to take the lead, before the Gulls rallied with a run in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings.
And in the top of the eighth, the Braves scored a couple of unearned runs on their way to a four-run inning.
LaCoste pitched seven-plus innings, allowing just three hits with eight strikeouts before giving way to Chase Johnson and Justin White in the seventh.
Kevin threw a fantastic game, said Seaside coach Joel Dierickx. He gave us everything, and you couldnt ask for anything more.
And Bonin threw a great game, too, he said. He got out of several jams. We had the bases loaded and no outs in the fourth and the fifth innings, and only came away with one run both times. We just didnt take advantage of the opportunities.
Bonin pitched into the fifth inning before being relieved by David Schorn. Combined, they gave up just two hits on the day.
