CORBETT — The Warrenton baseball team is scoring lots of runs early in games, but giving up lots of runs at the same time, as Corbett built an 11-run lead after three innings, on its way to a 17-6 win over Warrenton Tuesday at Corbett.

Warrenton scored twice in the first inning and four runs in the second, but the Cardinals answered with five runs in the first, five in the second and seven in the third.

And that was plenty for Corbett starter Zach Murphy, who scattered eight hits in the victory. The Warriors gave up 12 hits and also committed eight errors.

Jimmy Bentley and Bradd Lundberg each had a double for Warrenton, while Josh Bunch had two doubles for Corbett.

The Warriors host Valley Catholic Friday.
