KNAPPA — "Kelly's Heroes" came up big Friday afternoon at Teevin Field, as Knappa pitcher Kyle Kelly tossed a complete game on the mound and belted the eventual game-winning home run at the plate.

His solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning gave Knappa a 4-3 lead, and the Loggers held on for the victory over East Linn Christian in a Class 2A state baseball quarterfinal.

And for the second time in three years, the Class 2A’s only constant winner has advanced to the state semifinals.

Knappa will face Kennedy Tuesday at Kennedy, for the right to play in the 2012 state championship game next Friday.

Kelly and the Loggers managed to stay one step ahead of the Eagles Friday, as they answered every East Linn run with a run of their own, with Kelly’s homer the final blow.
