KNAPPA — The Knappa Loggers played their first home game of the 2013 season Tuesday, as they hosted Faith Bible in a Northwest League baseball game at Teevin Field.

And the game itself was pretty much an afterthought, as the Loggers defeated the Falcons, 27-4, in five innings.

Knappa led 14-1 after three innings, then tacked on 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Loggers had 16 hits, drew 13 walks and three hit by pitch in their four at-bats.

Leaders at the plate included Andrew Miller (4-for-5, with eight RBI’s, three doubles and a home run); Kyle Kelly (3-for-4, two doubles); and Jeff Benthin (3-for-3 with a double).

Knappa’s Justin Dragoo made his first start on the mound, and allowed just one hit in four innings pitched, before giving way to Tyson Burnard in the fifth.

Knappa improves to 8-0 in league play, with two more home games today, in a doubleheader vs. Vernonia, a team Faith Bible defeated last week. Faith Bible will host a doubleheader with Knappa Friday (games will be played at Portland Christian).
