CORVALLIS - The Astoria boys golf team finished with a 391 team score following a tough round of golf at Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis Wednesday.
Competing in the 21-team Oregon High School Invitational, the Fishermen faced a field of mostly 5A and 6A schools.
Astoria's Steven Baxley opened with a season-low 42 over his first nine holes, and shot 50 on the back nine for a 92.
Teammate Eugene Park carded a 46-50-96, followed by Campbell Roscoe (50-51-101), David Harrison (47-55-102) and Sean Speer (55-61-116).
Gulls second at CreswellCRESWELL - Seaside took second place out of 12 teams Wednesday at the Creswell Invitational, played at Emerald Valley Golf Course.
Reedsport won with a 339 team score, just one stroke ahead of the Gulls (340), who were followed by Junction City (344) and Bandon (363).
Individually, Charlie Kloss led Seaside with a 39-40-79, good enough for third place overall. Derek Stone of Reedsport was medalist with a 38-36-74, followed by teammate Montana Frame (39-38-77).
Other scorers for the Gulls included Lujac Desautel, fourth overall with a 40-42-82; Mark Ulbricht (46-43-89); Peter Scruggs (47-43-90); and John Schmidt (46-50-96).
