GEARHART - The Seaside boys golf team improved their season record to 3-0 as they defeated Tillamook 330-383, in a Cowapa League dual match at Gearhart Golf Course Tuesday.

Seaside's Charlie Kloss was medalist with a 79 (43-36), while all five Gulls posted scores lower than Tillamook's best score.

Peter Scruggs shot 83, Lujac Desautel and Mark Ulbricht both had 84 and John Schmidt fired an 89. Richard Cheney and Grant Slibsager both shot 94 to lead the Cheesemakers.

"We finally got someone in the 70's today," said Seaside coach Jim Poetsch. "We've been close but Charlie finally broke through with a 79. We keep improving each week and hopefully we can get all five in the 70's in May. We just missed our goal of shooting in the 320's, but we should get there soon.

"We had our season high for birdies today, as Charlie had three on the back side and Peter, John and Mark each added one," Poetsch said.

The Seaside junior varsity also improved to 3-0 with a 412-428 victory.
