YAMHILL - At this time a year ago, the Yamhill-Carlton Tigers were putting the finishing touches on a perfect league boys soccer season, while Astoria was fighting to make the playoffs.

The roles are reversed this year, as the Fishermen are closing in on the Cowapa League title following their 3-0 win Monday at Yamhill, which falls to 2-6 in league.

Senior Dylan Crownover - already owner of the Astoria single-season record for goals scored - added two more goals Monday to become Astoria's all-time single-season leader in points.

With two points for a goal and one for an assist, Crownover improved his point total to 47 (22 goals, three assists), topping the previous mark of 46 held by Jair Macareno. Josimar Macareno is third with 43.

Crownover scored his first goal just nine minutes into the game, off an assist from Will Samp.

William James assisted Crownover in the 29th minute and Samp capped the scoring in the 38th minute with a penalty kick.

Astoria hosts Banks Wednesday on Senior Night for the Fishermen.
