WARRENTON - The summer season came to a close Wednesday night for the Mexican Soccer League, as Club La Fiesta defeated team America 3-0 in the finale at the Warrenton Soccer Complex.

Club Estrella of Ocean Park, Wash., took third, with a 3-1 victory over Monarcas. Estrella came in with a 1-0 lead in aggregate scoring as Monarcas had forfeited its previous game in the two-game series.

Club La Fiesta kicked its way to the championship by picking up a pair of first-half goals from Octavio Mendez and another from Martin Zarasua in the title-clinching victory (7-2 in aggregate scoring).

Luis Antonio Garcia scored on a close-range goal midway through the first half for a 1-0 halftime lead, and teammate Norberto Guzman added a pair of second-half goals, including his second from just outside the penalty box. Monarcas added a late goal from league scoring champion Ferbin Velasquez.
