TILLAMOOK — The Astoria and Seaside cross country teams took part in the annual “Ultimoook” Invitational meet Saturday, Tillamook’s big early-season event.

The Gulls and Fishermen both had complete teams in the 5,000-meter 1A-4A race, won by the Tillamook boys and the Molalla girls.

Seaside placed fourth out of 25 teams on the boys’ side, behind the Cheesemakers, Battle Ground and Washougal. Astoria was seventh.

Individually, Tillamook’s Hector Rojo was first in 18 minutes, 15 seconds, while Astoria senior Nicholas Long was second in 18:26, and Seaside’s Jefferson Farmer placed fourth in 18:36.

Molalla’s Emily Bever was the individual girls’ winner, finishing in 20:52. Seaside’s Charlotte Blakesley was third in 22:42, and Karla Suarez was Astoria’s first runner to finish (24th, 26:19).

The Seaside girls were fifth in the team standings.
