WARRENTON - The fourth annual Astoria and Seaside Elks Soccer Shoot was held at the Warrenton Soccer Complex Sept. 6, with almost 100 kids participating in the competition.

All first, second and third-place winners were invited to the Astoria Elks Lodge for trophy presentations last week.

The first-place finishers will represent Astoria in the district competition, 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Astoria High School. A lunch and trophy presentation will be at noon, at the Astoria Elks Lodge.

Register for basketballThe Astoria Parks and Community Services Department will be conducting a basketball program for boys in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades.

To register, complete a registration form and return it to the Astoria Parks Office, 1095 Duane, by 5 p.m. Friday. (Registration for the fourth, fifth and sixth grade girls program is in December).

There is a fee of $18 per child living inside the city and $20 per child living outside the city. This fee is charged to help meet program expenses. The registration fee this year includes the team shirts.

Practice will start in October, with games in November and December. Games will be played 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays. The coaches will determine the practice schedule. The program stresses development of basic skills and no score is kept during games.
