Another game, another pitcher, another complete-game shutout victory for the Astoria baseball team.

The Fishermen won their 21st game in a row Friday night, blanking Banks 8-0 behind the three-hit pitching of Nick Bredleau.

While Bredleau got the job done on the mound, Matt Brause had the big hit at the plate in Friday's win, a two-run homer in the fourth inning.

Brause had a run-scoring double in the first inning, and scored on a single by Jordan Poyer, who is 10-for-10 in his last 10 official at-bats.

Defensively, Astoria's Jared Rummell and Tom Jaworski turned a pair of 4-6-3 double plays.

Bredleau struck out five and walked two in the victory. Astoria (21-4, 14-0 league) will finish off a perfect league season today with a win over Yamhill-Carlton.

Astoria is scheduled to play Marist at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Linfield College, then will host a state playoff game May 22.
