TILLAMOOK - Astoria's swim teams got back into action on a winning note Thursday afternoon at the Tillamook Cheese Relays.

The Fisherman boys and girls teams both posted victories in the annual relay event.

Astoria scored 128 points to win the boys title topping Taft (100), and Tillamook (40). The Fisherman girls scored 116 points to edge Taft (112) for the victory. Tillamook (62) and Neah-kah-nie (26) also competed in the event.

Astoria boys finished first in the 200-yard medley with a team of Andrew Ellsberg, Ryan Gallagher, Ackley Lane and Ben Lilley at 1:59.15 minutes. In the 500-yard freestyle, it was Zach Bruhn, Uri Zini, Jonnie Dunne and Lilley taking first at 5:45.42. The boys also took top honors in the 400-yard individual medley, 200 freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 300 freestyle, and 400 freestyle.

The Astoria girls raced to first with a time of 2:13.20 in the 200 medley with a team of Tiffany Karbym, Kelly Pierce, Rachel Gascoigne and Katie Blue. In the 200-yard backstroke, Karby, Jessica Curry, Gascioigne and CeeCee Wills won in 2:28.60.

Astoria also posted fist-place finishes in the 200 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 200-yard breastroke and 400 freestyle.
