Will Jordan Poyer be a Patriot? A Bronco? A Steeler, Dolphin or 49er? Or another team?

Find out later this week, when the Astoria Event Center hosts an “NFL Draft Party,” from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Dane Gouge’s Astoria Ford and Clatsop Distributing are sponsoring the event, which will be free for all ages.

Poyer, the Class of 2009 Astoria High graduate and former Oregon State All-American, is projected to be an early-round draft choice in the 2013 NFL Draft, which begins Thursday night with the first round and continues Friday with rounds two through four, and Saturday (rounds five through seven) in New York City.

Poyer will actually be in Corvallis during the draft, but will be contacted via Skype in order for him to check in with his local supporters throughout Friday’s draft action.

Poyer will become the first AHS alum – in the modern era of the National Football League – to have a chance at playing in the NFL.

Former Astoria Fighting Fisherman Del Bjork played two seasons (1937-38) with the Chicago Bears. Bjork was a sixth-round pick (58th overall) out of Oregon in 1937.
