WARRENTON — The Seaside Lady Gulls have put themselves in a prime position to win another district title, as they took command of the District 1/4A girls golf championships Monday at Astoria Golf & Country Club.

The tournament concludes today at Gearhart Golf Links.

Seaside carded a 420 team score after the first 18 holes for a 48-stroke lead over second-place Astoria (468). Scappoose (495) is third, followed by Rainier (516).

Seaside sophomore Katy Kawasoe, gunning for her second straight district medalist title, is the leader after one round with an 85. She had a 46 on the front nine, 39 on the back.

Other Seaside scores included a 104 (56-48) by Ashley Bassett, followed by Kathy Lin (58-56—114), Emma Hassan (58-59—117) and Bao Tran Nhan (60-61—121).

The Lady Fishermen were led by Kendra Scheel (55-50—105, third overall). Rounding out the Astoria scores were Kelsie Hoppes (57-56—113), Shelby Dursse (64-60—124) and Bryana Beaulieu (64-62—126).
