WARRENTON — In basically a preview of the district meet next month, the Seaside girls golf team made off with the team victory in the Astoria Invitational, held Monday at the Astoria Golf & Country Club.

The Lady Gulls finished with a 423 team score, followed by Scappoose (486) and Astoria (504). Tillamook and Rainier also had golfers competing.

Seaside’s Katy Kawasoe fired a 46 on the front nine and 43 on the back to win medalist honors with an 89, with teammate Ashley Bassett was a distant second at 108 (54-54).

Seaside golfer Gabrielle Griffin was fourth overall (57-55—112), ahead of fifth-place Emma Hassan (58-56—114). Kyna Lin rounded out the scoring for the Gulls (71-54—125).

Astoria’s Kelsie Hoppes was sixth overall with a 56-59—115, while teammates Chloee Hunt (64-62) and Ally Bentley (66-60) tied with a 126.

Other Astoria golfers were Justine Qualls (78-59—137) and Megan Sparks (82-76—158).
