TILLAMOOK — Seaside got off on the right foot Tuesday night, in a Cowapa League girls soccer opener at Tillamook.

The Gulls took a 1-0 halftime lead and turned it into a 4-1 win over the Lady Mooks.

Hannah Garhofer scored Seaside’s first goal with 18:06 left in the first half, as she took a pass from Whitney Westerholm and went one-on-one with the keeper and scored.

Seaside had 10 shots to Tillamook’s one in the first half, as the Tillamook keeper made several good saves.

Just three minutes into the second half, Garhofer passed to Maddi Utti, who broke free and beat the keeper in similar fashion to score.

In the 57th minute, Utti found Westerholm in front of the goal for an easy goal and a 3-0 lead.

Tillamook scored its lone goal in the 60th minute, but just three minutes later, Utti won a ball in the center of the field and scored unassisted for the final goal.

The Gulls are ranked No. 3 in the latest OSAA rankings with a 4-0-1 record, and host four-time league champion Scappoose (1-3, ranked 23rd) Thursday.
